Poznan University of Technology

Thanks to our help, Poznan University of Technology reduced demand for space in the server room and reduced the consumption of energy. This was achieved by:

• VMware technologies and reliable applications of the disk array and the redundant elements in the infrastructure.
• Creating the possibility of a simple extension in the case of demand for additional power needed to operate the new servers. Expansion of the system is reduced to increase the power of physical machines Sun Microsystems or make additional BLADE servers to the existing Blade 600 system.

For the University of Economics in Poznan we supplied energy efficient computers, as well as advising on how to reduce the associated costs.

The new computers have greatly increased the quality of education at the University of Economics. Vector On-Line helped to:

• Save on the costs associated with the purchase of computers, compared to other offers.
• Lower power consumption.
• Minimize the area needed in computer rooms.
• Increase the reliability of computers being used.

Vector On-Line were able to increase the efficiency of the system.
This was achieved by supplying a solution based on a Sun Blade 600 with 5 Blade servers, FC disk array and VMware . The solution implemented was a VMware virtual environment, based on above-mentioned hardware, with the additional reliability mechanisms of VMotion and DSR type. The next step was the migration of the existing 14 physical servers into virtual systems. Achieved benefits:

• 50% reduced demand for space in the server room.
• 40% reduced demand for energy consumption and air conditioning,
• Increased reliability of system, thanks to VMware technologies and the use of the reliable array and redundant elements in the infrastructure.
• A significantly simplified infrastructure management system, thanks to unification model of access to physical machines, virtual machines and the use of flexible infrastructure management possibilities.
• Created opportunities for easy expansion in case of demand for additional power needed to support new servers.
