IT competency development —
systematic, measurable, documented

An IT team that doesn't train falls behind. We design competency development paths for IT specialists — from planning through execution to certifications. Technical training in security, networks, and infrastructure, tailored to the company's technology stack.

Service scope

What does IT competency development cover?

From assessing current competencies through path planning to executing trainings and certifications. A systematic approach, not ad hoc reactions.

Competency assessment and gap identification

We map the competencies of the existing IT team — what they already know and what's missing in the context of current threats and technologies used in the company. The result is a concrete list of gaps to address.

Development path design

Based on the competency assessment and the company's technology plans, we design multi-month development paths — which trainings, when, for whom, and in what order. An annual program instead of training chaos.

Technical cybersecurity training

Training for IT specialists in security areas: SIEM management, firewall configuration, EDR policies, incident response, vulnerability analysis. Technical level, not awareness.

Networking and infrastructure training

Configuration and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN/WLAN, SD-WAN, routing, switching, network security. Training in technologies used in the company — Cisco, Palo Alto, Extreme, and others.

Certification preparation

Support in preparing for industry certifications: Security+, CISSP, CEH, CCNA, PCNSE, and others. Materials, mentoring, mock exams. A certified specialist is measurable value for the company.

Documentation and reporting for HR

Full documentation of completed trainings, certificates, and progress — in a form ready for the HR system or audits. Management and HR see what has been done and which competencies the IT team actually has.

How we work

How do we build a competency development program?

Four stages from assessing the current state to a working annual program.

1

IT team competency assessment

We perform a technical assessment — tests, interviews, and analysis of the scope of duties. We identify what specialists know and what they need in the context of technologies and threats specific to the company.

2

Annual program planning

Based on the assessment and the company's technology plans, we design a training schedule: topics, order, formats (workshops, webinars, e-learning), budget. We prioritize gaps critical for security.

3

Training and certification execution

We conduct technical training directly or pair it with external providers of certified courses. We monitor progress and adjust the program if the company's situation changes.

4

Reporting and plan updates

Quarterly progress reviews and path updates. Documentation for HR and management. Effectiveness assessment — whether competencies actually increased and how this translates into the daily work of the IT team.

IT team competencies are your real line of defense

Million-dollar tools are useless without people who know how to operate them.

Firewall, EDR, SIEM — each of these solutions requires specialist knowledge to operate effectively. Investing in the IT team's competencies pays off many times faster than another software purchase.

FAQ

IT competency development questions

For IT specialists responsible for infrastructure, networks, and security — system administrators, network engineers, security specialists. The training level is technical and assumes basic IT knowledge. These are not awareness trainings for end users.
Yes — we have experience with Palo Alto Networks, Microsoft 365 Security, Extreme Networks, and others in our portfolio. Trainings on specific technologies are especially valuable because participants practice on systems they actually use at work.
Competency assessment and program development typically takes 2–4 weeks. Execution starts the following month. The whole annual program is flexible — we adjust the schedule if the company's priorities change.
VOL System issues attendance certificates after every training. If the training prepares for an external certification (e.g. CCNA, Security+, PCNSE) — the external certificate is issued by the appropriate organization after passing the exam.
We can conduct training for one person (coaching/mentoring) or for a whole department. For individuals the format is usually more individual — mentoring and joint work on specific topics instead of classic group training.
